After many challenging rounds at the Diamond Valley Middle School Spelling Bee, three seventh grade students still stood in front of the judges. The competition was tough throughout the Bee as many challengers were vying for two spots to go on to the District Spelling Bee. Victoria Suba was one of the three still standing at the end and gave both Alayna Watson and Luis Figueroa a run for 12 full rounds until one letter took her out of the competition.
Alayna and Luis battled it out another seven rounds to determine the winner. Alayna ultimately captured the title; however both Luis and Alayna will represent DVMS at the District Spelling Bee on January 10, 2017.
If all goes well, they may represent the District in the Riverside County Spelling Bee later next semester. Diamond Valley has a terrific reputation in the District Spelling Bee. In the past 6 years, DVMS has won 3 times. Our staff and students wish both Alayna and Luis a successful effort in the District Spelling Bee.
